The Power of Transformation
Heading into the New Year I have been reflecting on the power of the transformation process. I mean, who doesn't love a dramatic transformation? Before & After pics are so satisfying and inspiring. Whether it be a single room makeover, a full house renovation, dramatic weight loss, long hair to short hair, blonde to brunette, a caterpillar into a butterfly... Transformations prompt delight and curiosity.
"How did you do it?"
"Why did you do it?"
"How long did it take?"
"Were you scared?"
These are the types of questions we get when we transform our physical worlds. Transformations are both mysterious and inspiring. Ultimately people want to know if they too have what it takes to transform.
Physical changes seem abrupt when we notice them, but the truth is that they have been percolating beneath the surface for some time. An ending, a beginning, grief, anger, forgiveness... profound emotions sow the seeds of change within us, altering our internal landscapes little by little. In the privacy of our inner worlds the transformation begins, working its way through our hearts and souls until it is ready to be seen.
As we move through different iterations of ourselves we often find that our surroundings or appearance no longer feel like they used to. We feel constrained, stagnant, or misrepresented in the world. And so we purge our closets, change our hair color, lose weight, clean out the forgotten spaces, renovate. It is often during transitional times that I am connected with my clients with the purpose of creating the intentional spaces they are yearning to settle into.
When we as individuals transform, we have the ability to inspire transformation in others, and isn't that why we are here; to share our light?
Inspiration is contagious, and transformation is ongoing.
Looking back at the past 3 years, it feels like 2023 has the potential to reveal the full depth of our individual and collective transformations. As we forge ahead may we be inspired by the knowledge that the changes we make in our own lives, will inspire changes in others and ultimately, in the world.
