Rethinking Design
This client’s goal was to push through indecision and uncertainty and finish designing and decorating her main living areas. Understandably, they wanted to use all of their real estate but the way the house was furnished they found they were only using about two thirds of it. There was a living room that looked nice but for some reason no one wanted to spend time there; and a dining room that was collecting piles of clutter in between it’s 2 holiday usages.
The journey towards this goal entailed questioning the traditional designations for each room and redefining what was really needed based on how the family actually lived, and how they wanted to live. The final product resulted in eliminating the formal dining room in favor of creating more opportunities for socializing and relaxation. Center to all decisions was how to make all rooms cozy, lived in and welcoming to all.
